Inside All of Us is a Wild Thing - Where's Home?

We always dream of beautiful things. When we cannot get what we want, our hearts become out of control...

For years, I hate the feeling of missing friends, family, or lover. It is very hurtful to leave a person because of life circumstances. My experience of moving to US from Hong Kong has made me be a cold person, I don't get too close to anyone, so that I can stay very independent and leave a place without tears. However, God has opened up my heart since the beginning of this year. I can't deny I miss my time at church and career LIFE. I have full attendance for Sunday school, as I like to see my classmates/elders every Sunday. And, BSF, I am coming back soon!

Well, God does not give me what I really want - a job that I can travel around the world...and a Christian family that we can share our faith and serve the same God. Instead, He has given me a warm church family and true friends. I am not afraid of being asked where my home is anymore - Right, I have a home here!! This is my home.

It's a blessing to have a group of folks watching "Where the Wild Things Are" with me. Thanks, ya'll! =)

Being the Chair After Dreaming of Jasper, AB

Jasper

I was dreaming of the beauty of Alberta before I woke up. Today's the first time that I hosted a meeting for the project. It was quite a stressful time to present and lead the discussion with the leads from all disciplines and the engineering manager. Praise God that I survived and the meeting ran smoothly.

I still need to work on my public speaking skills. I wish I could have time to join Toastmasters. This project brought me lots of chances to speak with confidence. I have been getting my dream job - doing technical work and management work. Many people said that you as an engineer can't have both, but I do. Still, there are too many technical things awaiting for me to learn.

My experience is - When you really like what you are doing, you don't want to go home.

Engineer's Ring

I will get my "Iron Ring" soon! =)

IronRing

I am an Engineer, in my profession I take deep pride. To it I owe solemn obligations.

Since the Stone Age, human progress has been spurred by the engineering genius. Engineers have made usable Nature’s vast resources of material and energy for Humanity's [Mankind’s] benefit. Engineers have vitalized and turned to practical use the principles of science and the means of technology. Were it not for this heritage of accumulated experience, my efforts would be feeble.

As an Engineer, I pledge to practice integrity and fair dealing, tolerance and respect, and to uphold devotion to the standards and the dignity of my profession, conscious always that my skill carries with it the obligation to serve humanity by making the best use of Earth’s precious wealth.

As an Engineer[, in humility and with the need for Divine guidance,] I shall participate in none but honest enterprises. When needed, my skill and knowledge shall be given without reservation for the public good. In the performance of duty and in fidelity to my profession, I shall give the utmost.

758 Miles?! Alright, I Will Surely Need Chris Botti...

89 days left to my favorite time of the year - Christmas!!

I am very greedy. I will visit three states in 5 days. I am dreaming of scenic drives, the beauty of Smoky Mountains, birds' whispers, and smooth jazz on the road!

I started reading this book called - Seismic Exploration Fundamentals. It's quite interesting to see how to find oil with a scientific approach. What a relaxing night after studying my SE exam for 5 hours.

Restructured...

It is impossible to change myself in one day. Praise God who has given me the wisdom to tell whether I am spiritually healthy.

It was great to escape to my cave place - Austin. There has been the N-th time. Perhaps I had so many great memories in this place, Austin is such a lovely city.

When I was running the planned 10-mile route, I kept telling myself not to stop. I suddenly remember Hebrews 12:1-2 about running the race with perseverance. This links to my feeling about getting closer to God with running, which seems odd to many people. A distance race that requires endurance, persistence, and sustained effort, but not a short sprint. Christians can run the race of life well only by laying aside any impediment that hinders one from putting forward his best effort. "Sin," especially that of "unbelief," also forms a crippling hindrance to good running.

The run was not easy, but it's very rewarding after 1:50:59. I am thankful that God has provided me with supports from friends and family.

Bday Run 2009

I had a hard time to accept myself, but I realized the following after reading a few chapters of 1 Samuel:

- God has made everyone's different.

-There's nothing wrong to be a book worm, a work-loving, an introvert, and a morning person.

-The most important thing is to make use of my strong characters and spiritual gifts to serve God and people around.

Highlights of my Birthday:

- appreciate all my time with Mr. Wong. He's always waiting for me to finish my races.

- amazed by the beauty of Austin.

- got numerous birthday wishes from friends and family.

- got a nice calve massage by SYY.

- When I was filling the gas tank, I realized that nobody wiped the window and calculated the gas mileage for me. I needed to do these by myself...

- Drove on FM2222 with stick shift was so fun!!

Isaiah 40:31 (New International Version)

31 but those who hope in the LORD
       will renew their strength.
       They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
